Welcome to the South Kitsap Helpline Food Bank!

The South Kitsap Helpline Food Bank provides critical food and other necessities to approximately 2,600 children, adults and senior citizens here in Port Orchard EVERY MONTH! Almost half that number is children. In 2006, our food bank helped to provide groceries to more than 10,323 local families which was comprised of more than 31,844 individuals. This was more than 2,130 additional families and more than 7,376 individuals than we helped to provide food to in 2005.

Our food bank is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. When visiting the food bank, please bring photo identification along with proof of residency. This can be a utility bill in your name, a DSHS medical coupon, a copy of your rental agreement, etc. If you live outside of South Kitsap we can serve you, however there may be a food bank that is more convenient and we can provide you with that information.

Federal commodities are also available on a weekly basis during regular food bank hours for individuals and families living at or below the poverty level.

In addition to food, Helpline is also able to offer clothing to individuals and families in need. When we have the funds to help, we are also able to offer financial assistance towards rent, utility bills and transportation costs.

Helpline always gratefully accepts donations of food from the public to assist us in our mission of helping to feed the hungry in our community. Donations of food and other necessary supplies can be made at Helpline between the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. In regards to food donations, we are unable to take food that is expired or foods that are prepared or packaged in a non-commercial kitchen. As our food bank can easily can go through more than 900,000 lbs. of food each year, we encourage local service organizations, schools, churches and businesses to organize and participate in food drives for Helpline throughout the year. We can always use the help! Help from our community is what makes it possible for us to better meet the needs of those who are in crisis.
