UPCOMING EVENTS 7/5/09 Garden Festival & Capital Campaign Launch with Ciscoe Morris! South Kitsap Helpline's first annual "Garden Festival" at Port Orchard Nursery is Sunday, July 5th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The nursery is located at 1012 Mitchell Road, Port Orchard. This is open to the public and offers a vendor market full of gifts, plants, flowers and garden art. We will also offer free children's workshops throughout the day. This is free to the public, but donations to the food bank are gratefully accepted. General parking for the event is on the south side of South Kitsap High School. Handicapped parking is available on Mitchell Road in front of the nursery. Entertaining TV personality and Master Gardener Ciscoe Morris will be speaking at the event from 4-5 p.m. that day. Tickets to see Ciscoe are $25 and include a reception with him from 5-6 p.m. with delicious hors d'oeuvres by Port Orchard's own Purple Fig Catering. Please call 360-876-4089 or email skhljennifer@wavecable.com for more information or to reserve your seat to hear Ciscoe! We are still seeking vendors for the event--please call or email for a vendor application today!
As you may have read, the South Kitsap Helpline is hoping to purchase the Port Orchard Nursery which will allow us to greatly expand the services our program currently offers. With the site, come plans to not only grow much of our own healthy food for the food bank and to help people learn to grow their own, but to expand our revenue generating operations to better support our programs. We are currently pursuing a number of private foundation grants to make this happen. If you are interested in donating towards this project, please make tax-deductible donations to: South Kitsap Helpline Attn: Nursery Project 1351 Bay Street Port Orchard, WA 98366 Thank you very much for your generous support!
